Curiosity, Wonder, and Beauty

everything else flows from there

Some people find themselves through therapy. I found myself through paint.

I'm Melanie Ferguson — an abstract artist based in Salt Lake City, Utah, with a restless love for light, texture, and the kind of beauty that stops you mid-step. My work is layered, expressive, and deeply rooted in place: the way afternoon sun falls across a poppy field in Provence, the dusty gold of a Utah summer, the memory of a lavender-scented morning you never want to forget.

My art is texture obsessive, and I’m a firm believer that beige walls are a missed opportunity. My paintings are built in layers: abstract foundations, thick paint, color that moves. Landscapes. Florals. The kind of art that makes a room feel alive.

I spent years living in the south of France — painting poppy fields, chasing lavender light, falling completely in love with how a place can become part of you. Now back in Utah, I bring all of that warmth and memory into the studio every single day.

My paintings have been featured in Westside Magazine, American Art Collector, Southwest Art, and was named an Artist to Watch by Deer Valley.

But honestly? My favorite review is when someone says, "This painting feels like somewhere I've always wanted to go."

I believe art should make your home feel like you, not a hotel.
